Our story began on June 15, 2023, when Tim and I had our first date at Claddagh Coffee in Saint Paul. Naturally, we chose a coffee shop, because we wanted a place where we could talk, get to know each other, and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
There was a spark from the moment we met. One of my favorite memories from that first date is asking Tim to order my coffee because the menu was in English and quite different from the coffee menus I knew back home in Ecuador.
Our relationship grew naturally, openly, and effortlessly. We fell in love, became partners, got married, and today we continue building our life together.
As we began building a life together, I shared more of my Ecuadorian culture with Tim—traditional dishes from home, the way we enjoy coffee in Ecuador, and the remarkable quality of Ecuadorian coffee.
As we experienced those flavors together, Tim quickly realized there was something truly different about the coffee: its rich aroma, smooth flavor, and the entire experience of enjoying an exceptional cup.
The idea began with me. Before Woven Bean Coffee had a name, I was searching for a way to build a business around the flavors and traditions I loved. I first imagined a food truck, but it was not the right fit.
Coffee kept returning as the most natural path for us. It was something we both loved, and I knew Ecuador had delicious coffee that deserved to be better known.
When I reached out to Café Galletti, their encouraging response helped turn my idea into our shared path forward—and our dream began taking shape.
Our name and logo bring together two symbols of Ecuador: the coffee bean and the handwoven toquilla straw hat—a treasured expression of identity, history, and craftsmanship.
Together, these symbols represent heritage, family, and the journey from Ecuador to your cup. Ecuador’s diverse geography supports coffee production across the Coast, Andes, Amazon, and Galápagos Islands, with distinctive growing conditions shaped by altitude, climate, soil, and microclimates.
Just as the fibers of a toquilla hat are woven together through generations of tradition, Woven Bean Coffee is weaving a dream that connects people to the land, to family, and to the enduring legacy of Ecuador’s coffee growers.
